Stella Artois Mural Campaign
Under the art direction of Ms. Lonis, the ‘Together Apart Street Art’ initiative emerged as a testament to art’s power to reshape our reality. In collaboration with Stella Artois and Mother London, Studio Number One boldly redefined safe-socializing spaces with an awe-inspiring 46′ x 92′ artwork adorning the floor of East London’s Truman Brewery. As the world reemerged from the grip of lockdown, this mural embodied a fresh perspective on human interaction and collective experience.
The narrative of our times had been forever altered by the pandemic, and in response, Ms. Lonis’s creative ingenuity came to the forefront. Unifying form and function, the artwork drew from the evocative style of sixties op art, using geometric shapes to create optical effects. With meticulous attention, the design team at Studio Number One experimented with various grids, shapes, and sizes, ultimately cultivating a dynamic and organic composition that invited viewers to immerse themselves in art, quite literally, at their feet.
A minimalist portrait of a woman raising a chalice greeted guests and served as a symbolic invitation to cherish human connection. The canvas of circles, each a burst of Op Art-inspired color contrast, manifested as delightful bubble-like spaces. These designated zones, adorned by an outer ring, were thoughtfully spaced to ensure a secure social distance between friends and loved ones, echoing the essence of unity and togetherness central to Stella Artois’s ethos.
Ms. Lonis’s work extended beyond aesthetics. This endeavor was an artistic response to an evolving global narrative, a testament to adaptability and creativity’s capacity to shape society. Through ‘Together Apart Street Art,’ the artistic realm and the real world converged, fostering an environment where safety was harmoniously entwined with the joy of shared experience. As we treaded into the future, this artwork stood as a symbol of resilience, reinvention, and the enduring power of creativity.
